Designations & custom fields

Let donors choose a fund for their gift, and ask the questions your organization needs answered.

Designations / funds

Add a list of funds - Scholarship Fund, Building Fund, Greatest Need - and the form shows a tidy "Designate my gift to" dropdown. Each donation records its designation, and it flows straight through to your reports, admin notifications, receipts, and CSV export, so you always know what each fund raised.

Pair designations with campaigns for two layers of organization: campaigns for time-bound appeals, designations for ongoing funds.

Custom form fields

Every organization needs to ask something specific - "How did you hear about us?", "Add me to the volunteer list". Donor Merchant lets you add your own fields without touching code:

  • Field types: short text, paragraph, dropdown, or checkbox
  • Required or optional, your call
  • Answers are saved with each donation, shown in the admin and notifications, and included in CSV exports and webhook payloads
Keep it shortEvery extra field costs a few conversions. Ask only what you'll actually use - one or two well-chosen questions beat a long form.

Employer matching

Many employers match their staff's gifts. Switch on Employer matching and the form gets an optional box asking for the donor's employer. The employer appears on the donation in your list, export and webhooks, in your new-donation email and on the receipt, with a note telling the donor to send the receipt to their employer's matching program. Monthly gifts keep the employer on every renewal, so you can follow up on each one.

It's a question, not a lookup service: Donor Merchant doesn't check which companies match or submit match requests.

Setup

Add fields from a simple table under Settings → Forms. No page-builder, no premium tier - just the questions you need on the form you already have.
