How it works
Memorial and honor gifts are among the most personal donations a nonprofit receives - a celebration of a life, a birthday, a recovery, a teacher who mattered. Donor Merchant adds an unobtrusive "Dedication (optional)" section to the form. Donors who want it expand it; everyone else never notices it.
Donors can choose:
- In honor of - celebrations, birthdays, achievements, gratitude.
- In memory of - memorial gifts marking a loss.
- A personal message - up to 500 characters of context for your team.
Where tributes show up
- In the donation record - each gift displays its dedication right in the Donations list.
- In your notification email - so you can acknowledge the family or honoree promptly while it matters most.
- In CSV exports - tribute type and name are columns, ready for acknowledgment mailings.
The follow-up is the featureWhen a memorial gift arrives, a same-week acknowledgment to the family ("a gift was made in memory of…") is one of the most powerful donor-relationship moments that exists. The notification email gives you everything you need to do it.
